Taupo District Council

In what has been seen as a historic moment for the region, the Taupō District Council and Ngāti Tūwharetoa have been brought together under one roof with a new building – a project our commercial team at Van Dyks Flooring Xtra have proudly been involved in.

Considered a first for co-governance spaces in Aotearoa, the landmark building is located at 67 Horomatangi Street in Taupō’s CBD. The building serves as both a functional workspace and a cultural taonga, symbolising strengthened relationships and shared aspirations within the Taupō community.

Van Dyks Commercial team was contracted by Watts & Hughes Construction Ltd, Van Dyks installed not just flooring, but walls, entryways, common areas, and wet areas. The team worked on everything from carpet to vinyl tiles, entry matting, and sound control wall panels.

The team completed works for this project from September through to December 2024 as part of the building’s fit-out. Our team worked within tight timelines to ensure all coverings were fitted and installed to the highest standards, for both public and staff areas.
