Sir Howard Morrison Centre

Van Dyks Flooring Xtra Commercial had the honour of being apart of the renovation and restoration of the foyer, stairs and the main theatre of this iconic venue - the Sir Howard Morrison Centre.

The focus of the project was to pay homage to the heritage of the building which is a cultural hub in Rotorua, whilst giving the venue a much needed modernisation.  The original Municipal Building (1938), had Spanish Mission influences, and served as Rotorua’s Civic Centre up until 1995, when it was turned into a Convention Centre.

Van Dyks installed traditional herringbone flooring, with striking blacknose edging on the stairs, as well as installing carpet tiles and stair nosing throughout the theatre and bleachers.
