Van Dyks Flooring Xtra Commercial recently supplied and installed flooring across two Te Wānanga o Aotearoa campuses in Te Awamutu and Hamilton.
Each space required a flooring solution that would complement its surroundings while providing the durability and practical performance needed within a busy education environment. Herringbone installation patterns were used across both projects, creating a strong visual connection between the flooring and the character of each interior.
Apakura Campus — Te Awamutu
At the Apakura Campus in Te Awamutu, our team supplied and installed Interface Urban Retreat UR501 carpet tiles in Charcoal throughout the main gallery.
The gallery is home to a wide collection of paintings, photography, carvings, statues and other works of art. The flooring therefore needed to provide a refined, understated foundation that would support the displays without drawing attention away from them.
Installed in a herringbone pattern based on a design developed by the flooring supplier, the charcoal carpet tiles introduce subtle movement and texture throughout the space. The result is a practical finish that complements the gallery environment and its diverse collection.
Mangakōtukutuku Campus — Hamilton
At the Mangakōtukutuku Campus in Hamilton, Interface Criterion luxury vinyl planks in Antique Ash Oak were selected for the project.
The planks were installed in a herringbone pattern, bringing warmth, natural character and a strong sense of direction to the interior. The timber-look finish provides the appearance of traditional timber flooring while offering the durability and ease of maintenance required for a high-use educational setting.
Across both campuses, the carefully selected products and coordinated installation patterns helped create welcoming, functional spaces.
